Frequently Asked Questions
Want to know more about the Zerorez process? Read the answers to the most frequently asked questions about our patented technology and services.
What is Zr™ Water?
Zerorez cleaning services are based on our unique Zr™ Water technology. Zr™ Water is enhanced water that is electrolysed and oxidised to create a powerful cleaning solution without harmful toxins or chemicals. Zr™ Water acts as an effective cleaning agent, which means we do not use harmful soaps or detergents to clean, unlike traditional carpet cleaners.
Soap and detergent residues can bond to the carpet fibres which continues to attract dust and dirt, making your carpet dirty again quickly. In short, the Zerorez cleaning process means your carpets dry faster and stay cleaner for longer.
I've had my carpet cleaned before and it took days to dry. How long will it take to dry with Zerorez?
At Zerorez, we add steps to our cleaning process that most carpet cleaners do not include, which helps to reduce the dry time. By pretreating and preparing the carpet fibres for cleaning, we reduce the amount of water it takes to completely rinse the carpet clean. We also take extra vacuum stokes to remove as much excess moisture as possible and we set up specially designed fans (air movers) as we clean in order to increase airflow and reduce the dry time.
Our typical dry time is between four to eight hours, but this can be affected by the temperature and humidity inside the home. It is completely safe to walk on the carpet as long as you're comfortable with the cleanliness of your feet. Feel free to ask your service technician for a complimentary pair of shoe coverings.
Do you have a guarantee? What does it cover?
What do Zerorez charge for carpet cleaning?
Do Zerorez clean other things besides carpets?
Yes! Because Zerorez's Zr™ Water technology works incredibly well on all surfaces, we are proud to offer other cleaning services.
Most franchises offer our core services, which include carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, fabric protection, and tile and grout cleaning.
Each franchise determines what services they want to offer, so please check with your local Zerorez team to see if they offer other services such as hardwood floor cleaning, leather cleaning, air duct cleaning, carpet repairs and area rug cleaning.
Is a fabric protector applied to the carpet?
The application of fabric protector is an additional service we offer. Most carpet manufacturers apply a topical fabric protector to their carpets during manufacturing. Over time, this added layer of protection can be worn down or removed by harsh cleaning chemicals.
Your carpet's ability to resist soiling and staining is thus reduced over time, allowing spots and spills to become stains. Zerorez uses the industry's best protectant that can be applied to the carpet after cleaning. Please check with your local franchise for a quote to apply fabric protector to your carpet and/or upholstery.
How do you treat pet stains? Is there an extra charge for these treatments?
Zerorez understands that pet accidents happen, causing odour and discolouration in your floor coverings. If not properly treated, biological matter such as urine can create a breeding ground for bacteria and a distinctly unhealthy environment. Most of our pet treatments are provided at an additional cost and the technician will discuss options before beginning treatment. Any service recommended by a technician is optional. Please note that if you decline a pet treatment, it does void our 30-day Gotta Love It Guarantee® for that area of your home.
If there is concern over a biological issue, we will inspect the carpet with a special UV light that helps illuminate contaminants in the carpet. Our trained cleaning technicians will review the condition of the carpet, the severity of the biological contamination, and what the options are to treat the spots. Our technicians will be able to discuss all the options, costs and solutions with you when they inspect your home and review the existing conditions.
What can you do about residue left behind by DIY spotting chemicals or other cleaning companies?
Harmful soaps and detergents left behind by DIY spotting chemicals or improper cleaning techniques can create a sticky mess. Soaps and detergents are engineered to attract dust and dirt and, if left in your carpet, they will continue to attract dust and dirt making your carpet dirty again quickly. If you do not use Zerorez, your next carpet cleaner will most likely add a new layer of sticky soaps and detergents to your carpet, thereby compounding the problem.
What you need is to neutralise and remove the sticky residue that has been left behind. Zerorez's carpet pre-conditioner is engineered without soaps and detergents, so we do not add to the problem. By pretreating and agitating the carpet, we start to break down the residues in your carpet. Then, by thoroughly rinsing the carpet with our patented Zr™ Water cleaning process, we are able to flush out a lot of the existing soils and residue. Depending on the level of residue that has bonded to your carpet fibres, we may not be able to break it all down the first time we clean.
What about area rugs? Can you clean them in the home or do you take them off-site?
We can clean some types of area rugs in your home, as long as there are not biological issues in the rug (such as urine, blood, faeces or vomit) and there is an appropriate surface to clean them on.
Please check with your local franchise to see what level of rug cleaning they offer. They will also be very happy to provide a quote for your area rug cleaning needs if applicable.
Do you clean air ducts? If so, what is the cost?
What days are you open?
What should I do before Zerorez arrives for my appointment?
A few days before your appointment, we will send you an email with some helpful tips about your upcoming cleaning experience. Before we arrive for your appointment:
- We ask that you thoroughly vacuum the areas we will be cleaning.
- We run one-person crews, so we ask that you move the furniture that requires moving. Some franchises offer furniture moving for a small per area fee. If you need us to move the furniture, please let us know ahead of time so we can send a two-person crew.
- Please note we do not move large or heavy furniture such as pianos, entertainment centres, bookcases, large beds, or other similarly heavy items. We also do not move electronics (TVs, game systems, computers, lamps, etc.)
Is there a cancellation fee if I have to cancel my appointment?
No - we understand life is busy and unexpected things can change your schedule. If you need to reschedule, please call our customer service representatives who can help you select a better time.
We do appreciate you giving us as much notice as possible (preferably a few days), so that we can adjust our schedule to accommodate the change.
Do I have to be at home for the cleaning appointment?
While we prefer that you or someone of accountable age be home during your appointment, it is not required. We do appreciate having someone there to confirm the areas that will be cleaned, discuss options and address any concerns we may encounter during the service. All Zerorez Technicians are employees, not sub-contractors, and we are fully insured.
We normally collect payment when we have completed the work, so if you are not going to be home, please make arrangements with our customer service representatives so we can gain access to the property (keys, codes), provide instructions on how to lock up when we are done, and receive payment.
How often should I get my carpet cleaned?
How often your home or office carpets need cleaning is a personal thing. Each property is different and aspects such as the frequency of use, number of people in the property, pets, outdoor environment, etc. all contribute to the cleaning cycle. Most carpet manufacturers require you to have your carpets cleaned with hot water extraction (HWE) every 12 to 18 months in order to maintain their warranty.
Zerorez's cleaning process goes above and beyond normal HWE, so using Zerorez will help you maintain your carpet's warranty. Cleaning more frequently will extend the life of your carpet.
What should I do about moving large items, breakables and electronics?
We kindly ask that you arrange to have all the small items you want out of the room removed before we arrive, or liaise with your local Zerorez franchise to enlist their help with with moving the smaller items. However, please note:
- Due to liability concerns, we do not move large or heavy furniture such as pianos, entertainment centres, bookcases, large beds or other similarly heavy items.
- We do not move breakable items or electronics such as televisions, game systems, computers, lamps, etc.
Your Zerorez Technician will do a great job cleaning around any items left in the room.
